Ina is the Yoruba word for "light". SinGele is actually a combination of two words, sinnamay and gele. It's a variant of the traditional headdress worn by Yoruba women. The traditional aso-oke fabric is substituted for sinnamay in this case. Ina Singele, designed by Seyi Taylor, is a concept lamp created from wrought iron and sinnamay. The base is moulded in a feminine form and the lampshade is an actual single. Created with local materials, it highlights an amazing part of Nigerian culture and reminds us of the role of women in development, through the light comes from the woman's head.

As "gele tying" is a strictly female task, it would help create jobs for local women if produced en masse.
