'IYDEY is a leading example of how the British Council is encouraging real international dialogue between young designers internationally. It is also great that the engagement of the Young designers is UK wide including Scotland – having them in Scotland allowed The Lighthouse to develop an international outreach later… The finalists really did represent an amazing cross-cultural slice of contemporary design and The Lighthouse staged an exhibition with work of the Slovenian finalist, Nika Zupanc'

Partners

IYDEY is only possible because of our institutional partnerships in the UK with 100% Design and The Lighthouse.

100% Design
www.100percentdesign.co.uk

100% Design is the UK's premier contemporary interiors event for the contract market. There is no other show that connects the worlds of architecture and design with innovative, contemporary interior products, creativity and an exciting mix of new and established talent. The event sees more than 35,000 visitors each year, including world leaders in the design sector. 100% Design has collaborated with the British Council on the IYDEY since the inaugural event in 2005, where the British Council has hosted a stand presenting design from emerging markets, and where the IYDEY winner is annouced.

The Lighthouse
http://www.thelighthouse.co.uk

The Lighthouse in Glasgow is Scotland’s first, dedicated, national centre for architecture and design. The lead body on design in Scotland, the centre's vision is to develop the links between design, architecture, and the creative industries, seeing these as interconnected social, educational, economic and cultural issues of concern to everyone. The vibrant centre has more than 1,400 square metres of exhibition space for events of international stature, but also home to an education centre including workshop, computer laboratory, and the innovative Urban Learning Space. The Lighthouse also coordinates the Creative Entrepreneurs Club, Scotland's largest and most active creative industries network. Each year the IYDEY candidates visit Glasgow, in a tour of the city’s design scene coordinated by partners at the Lighthouse.
